Here's what other people are saying...

O MY GOSH! My favorite seafood benedict used to be McGrath's, today at WOMB - OUTSTANDING! Generous crab, ample prawns, sauce was yummy, temp hot & the eggs cooked perfect! (8/15/09)

My wife Val and I had breakfast at Word the other day. I had the asparagus and brie omelet with a free diced ham upgrade and Val had the prime rib Benedict.
The omelet was lovingly prepared and a savory marriage of fresh asparagus with creamy brie which complement each other beautifully. The house grilled red potatoes were perfectly cooked and the thick wheat toast was served with a souffle cup filled with seedless strawberry jam. Val's shaved prime rib had just enough fat to make it unctuous and the poached egg was perfectly cooked and silky textured, topped with real hollandaise sauce. I am a chef and have done restaurant reviews for Salem Monthly and Take Five entertainment guide and have lived in the Salem area since 1991. This was hands down the best restaurant or bistro breakfast I've had to date. We will be returning soon for more of this gem's fabulous cuisine. (7/17/09)

Today my friend and I ate at WoM for the first time. There are NO WORDS to describe our experience! We got the Creme Brulie French Toast and the Biscuits and Gravy, and split them.Everything was out of this world, and each bite was even better than the first! Our server was polite and friendly, our food came to us quick, and everything was cooked to perfection. I am looking forward to visiting again! (7/16/09)

I want to start by saying that you have converted me. I have not liked fish for as long as I can remember. I tried your Mahi Mahi for lunch, and it just melted in my mouth it was so delicious. I have told all of my friends about your place and that they need to try it. I told my son that I ate fish and he thought that I was kidding. We ate there for dinner and had the Mahi Mahi and could not finish it all. He said that it was the best had every had also and loved the steak fries. Keep it you are doing GREAT. (7/14/09)

OMG! What a treat and at lunch no less. The eggs where perfect and I left stuffed to the gills. I will be back! (7/10/09)

My husband and I discovered that we could easily walk to Word of Mouth, so we went for breakfast. Being a wildly popular place on a late Saturday morning, we had a long wait. However the wait was well worth the food and the friendly staff! We got seated at the bar and go to know Becky a bit - such an attentive hostess! She even brought us out a couple of soup samples while we waited for our brunch - Salmon Florentine and Clam Chowder - they were to DIE for! My husband and I fought over them to the last drop. And that was BEFORE our tasty meals even made it out! Delicious food, cozy service - well worth it. (7/10/09)

All I can say is WOW!!!
Our anniversary was recently and my loving husband tried his hardest to do something special and his plans as usual were not very well planned out but I do have to say I am super glad that the original plans fell through because we thought our night was over and decided to try Word of Mouth because it was close to our home and boy are we glad we did!
The service was excellent, the food fantastic, prices extremely reasonable and now I can't wait to try it for breakfast! I also want to try the spinach dip it looked very yummy at another table. This place is very well worth your time and money. (6/2/09)

After driving by Word of Mouth for months, and seeing so many car and happy people bopping out, today I surprised my wife with a trip to Word of mMouth for breakfast. OOOHHH WEEEEE what a treat!!! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs, and i have spent years looking for the best and it is here! NOT out of a frozen package, this bad oscar was fresh, seasoned to perfection and the gravy...the gravy could be a meal of its own!!! I was too busy eating to see what Chrystal got....we shall be back very very soon! Thanks Becky you are a wonderful host.....and thanks for her purse too.

The Word of Mouth spinach artichoke dip is the most decadent, creamy, precocious topping for chips, carrots, or celery around. It i\'s the perfect appetizer for the educated palate. This is simply the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever had.

Just had our first visit on February 8th! I had family in town and we went to Word of Mouth of Brunch, and it was perfect! The staff is great and the food is too! Can't wait for it to open for Dinner!

Biscuits & Gravy ... OMG ... wonderful light fluffy biscuits & the best sausage gravy I have every had - truly, I always go for biscuits & gravy when we go out for b''fast & have been sad about the choice. Not this time!!! The eggs were amazingly fresh & tasty bacon ... but for me, just give me the biscuits & gravy... YUM!

My husband and I ate breakfast at W.O.M. on Saturday, Jan. 31, for the first time. I had the corned beef hash, eggs, toast with delicious strawberry jelly. The portion was so generous that I was able to enjoy the rest of it this morning.(The take-out container is enviornmentally friendly, too.) The service was fast and almost perfect (my husband can't have dairy products and he got butter on his toast), but the food was perfect and plentiful. I know it will be one of my favorite new spots to eat in Salem. I have recommended it to lots of my friends and co-workers, too.

Breakfast out on the week-end is what we look forward to throughout the work week. Thanks Dago B. for recommending "Word of Mouth". Word of Mouth has it all! Delicious food, friendly, welcoming atmosphere and last but not least superb service. We enjoyed our first visit so much last Saturday that we had to come back on Sunday. Of course, I dreamed about your dynamite Creme Brulee French Toast. Thanks for coming back to Salem. See you this week-end.

We had breakfast there after church on Jan. 18th. I had Crème Brulee French Toast and my husband had the Eggs Benedict. Both were wonderful. The Bistro was busy and every table was full with people waiting to be seated as soon as a table was empty. I highly recommend the Neighborhood Word Of Mouth Bistro!

I have eaten at the bistro several times and each time the food has been absolutely delicious! I'm in love with their french toast and soups! The omelets, hashes, and salads have been fresh and tastey! To top it off the ambiance is modern and cozy, while the servers are friendly and expedient. I'm already looking to my next visit.

I am just so happy that this wonderful neighborhood bistro came to my neighborhood. I had Chicken Fried Steak yesterday morning. It was just out of this world. I think this Chicken Fried Steak is double-dipping. It was so crusty outside and so juicy inside. and it has great flavor that makes me think they use lots of spices. The atmosphere is so cozy, and I can stay there all day long. I ordered a cup of coffee, and the mug was so big and simple and cute. I can drink coffee there all day long. I hope that they will open their backyard for extra seating for summer time. It's gonna be wonderful if I can eat outside under nice Oregon summer weather. You know what, I want this business to be successful and spread the word, but at the same time, I don't want them to be so popular. I want them to be my secret neighborhood bistro!

WOW! I just finished the Bistro Burger and I swear it's the best hamburger I have ever had. The blend of meats and seasonings fit together perfectly. I have had other fabulous meals there too and have used their takeout service. Keep it up Becky & Steve. You have a winner!

"My friend and I finally made it to the Bistro on a Saturday for breakfast. I have been wanting to order the french toast, but I decided on the designer omelet. My friend got the french toast. Oh my gosh! It is devine and on my next visit I will be ordering the french toast. I have never had anything quite like it."

I have eaten breakfast twice at Word of Mouth and it was wonderful both times. The food and service are high quality and the restaurant is beautiful - warm and modern. I will go back again and again. This is just what Salem needed!

For those who loved (and miss) the Arbor's old spinach salad with that amazing rich dressing, it''s been reincarnated here, even better! Add the chicken.

I loved the House Ruben. The meat was lean and plenty and the sourkraut garnished perfectly between wonderful fresh rye bread. The salad is quality salad - not your "every day" filler salad. It is evident that "from scratch" and "quality" is the mantra at Word of Mouth. The place was full when I was there at lunch and the service was friendly and efficient.

My first lunch at Word of Mouth was delicious. The clam chowder is simply amazing. I came back later in the week with two very tough food critics, my wife and son. We had a wonderful meal and super friendly service. We'll be back again and again. Tip top.

Without a doubt one of the most amazing restauranteurs who has rewarded patrons up and down the West Coast from California's Catalina Island to Oregon's Capital city, Steve Mucha has again created a genuinely friendly atmosphere with a recession proof menu that is a delight to the most finicky taste buds. I for one will gladly travel 3600 miles and wait 20 minutes for a table for this unique experienc.

Word of Mouth is the best thing to happen to my neighborhood since I moved here in 2004! I am a breakfast hound, meaning that I would wager that I have had the 2 egg special with meat at every breakfast-serving establishment in town (this is my standard baseline setting breakfast), and Word of Mouth is by far in the top ranked of Salem AND BEYOND. Originally from South Carolina, I introduced my Southern mother to the Word, and their biscuits even passed her mysterious test of satisfaction. The red potato homefries are a mark of excellent quality, and Steve holds the honor of inspiring me to try corned beef hash for the first time and actually enjoying it! I have also come for lunch with the family, and the pulled pork also passed the Southern mother test. The Word of Salem has won my glowing approval! I've lived within six blocks of their location since 2004, and I had braced myself to be disappointed --> but I could not be more thrilled with the food AND the atmosphere - Becky and Steve have really invested in transforming the house into an amazingly sophisticated and comfortable space suitable for any level of privacy and any sized group. I enjoy heading in for early breakfast and sitting at the comfy padded stools at the little bar. AND YOU'LL be AMAZED by the delicious deals that you'll find in your email each morning bright and early if you sign up for the Daily Special newsletter. DELICIOUS!

The Nicest Newest and Best in Salem. They just opened are are blowing away everyone with their great menu and food quality & service. We have frequented several other nice places for breakfast but Word-of-Mouth is clearly superior.
Try it and you will not go back to that other place.
Recommend the creme brule french toast. The omelets are fluffy and tasty.
Took the GrandKids for lunch and it was even better. A Family friendly place to share a meal. The ruben is better than made at home. The turkey burger was so good I had to ask if it really wasn't beef or buffalo.
The parking lot looks small and crowded, but it is worth coming here for a meal. The ambiance, tables and chairs have that special feeling, like your favorite place to curl up and have a nice meal with family or friends.
We are not related to Steve (The Cook) and Becky ( the Proprietor ) and only come Salem to visit our Granddaughters several times a year. They welcomed us as friends of their family.
We rate Word-of-Mouth an AAAA++++ None Better in Salem
Clearly Superior to al other breakfast lunch restaurants in Salem or even in Portland.

My husband and I tried Word of Mouth Neighborhood Bistro this morning for the first time and we will definitely be back. The restaurant decor is warm and inviting on the outside as it is on the inside. The service was outstanding and the food was superb. We were the first ones in at 7am on this snowy Saturday and we were able to order and receive our food quickly. The traditional eggs benedict were done to perfection and the chicken fried steak with a wonderful homemade buscuit were flavorful and very well prepared. We can't wait to try some items from the lunch menu. Wishing the owners much luck in this, what seems to be a tricky location for businesses,

I have eaten here twice and being from Portland I had high standards, but unlike any other salem eatery I have been to this place is first of all comfortable, service was well just that .... service. I have not encountered a hamburger of this caliber for this price anywhere in portland. Don't change a thing, my hats off to you.

...The new restaurant on 17th near state (used to be cravings, and dragonfly and green house cafe before that) is hands down the best breakfast in this entire region. It opened on the 15th, and honestly, as a major foodie, their corned beef hash and eggs breakfast is the absolute best breakfast I have had anywhere, ever. Check it out and give some support to these guys, you will be amazed. (Posted on eatsalem.com)

Thanks for the great breakfast this morning.....I've lost count on how many friend I've already told about your wonderful restaurant!

My first dining experience at Word of Mouth was Eggs Benedict. Perfect poached eggs holandaise sauce, lean meat and the homemade potatoes were just right. It was wonderful! The coffee is fabulous too. Not to mention the friendly service...

Chicken Scallopini; Wow! It was fabulous. I got an e-mail from Word of Mouth Bistro this morning to say this was the Friday lunch special, went in to give it a try, and it was so good. Angel hair pasta with a sauce that is out of this world. The chicken was cooked just right and the taste was fabulous. You did it again, Steve!
